DETAILED PROGRAMME:

Fri 6/9, 17-19 (2 hours): Talk - "What is Practice" + Q&A?

In this talk Tim will address what it is we are supposed to do when we are doing yoga according to Sri Patanjali. The ancient, yogic goals of health & liberation of our bodies, minds and hearts sometimes get lost in our attempts of mastering yoga postures. Did you ever wonder how bending your back and jumping back-forth is possibly going to elevate your mind, release deep psychological patterns and lead you to a freer, happier state of living? Come learn what the classic yogic texts say about practice and how to apply it to your own yoga practice for long term benefit. The class ends with a Question & Answer session - so bring your questions!

Sat 7/9, 8-11: Mysore style Class

Named after the city where Krishnamacharya and Pattabhi Jois developed their yoga method, this is the classic way Ashtanga Yoga is taught. A melting pot of yoga practitioners of all levels from beginner to experienced, this class sets out to offer personalised guidance to each practitioner at exactly where you need it most. Build a relationship with yourself, your practice and your teacher in this inspiring energy.

Sat 7/9, 13:30-15:30 (2 hours): "Sthira Sukham & Backbending"

Develop your ‘sthirasukha’, your discipline and delight, for aptitude and health in your yoga practice. The class starts with directing your mind towards the essential; we’ll look at what it takes to bend backwards without fear and pain. The key to deep back bends are available to you through the integration of sound anatomical principles, healthy alignment and technique, as well as accurate knowledge of your inner body. The movement mechanics of bending your spine are the key to an enhanced flow of energy and in this class you will begin to explore your natural potential for deep back bends with simplicity, safety, support and enthusiasm. The workshop aims at developing tools for a personal and balanced practice. All levels welcome.

Sun 8/9, 8-11: Mysore style Class

Named after the city where Krishnamacharya and Pattabhi Jois developed their yoga method, this is the classic way Ashtanga Yoga is taught. A melting pot of yoga practitioners of all levels from beginner to experienced, this class sets out to offer personalised guidance to each practitioner at exactly where you need it most. Build a relationship with yourself, your practice and your teacher in this inspiring energy. After the mysore class on Sunday at 11am Tim gives an additional 30min Q&A.

Sun 8/9, 13-15 (2 hours): "Jumping, Walking, Rolling, and Floating - Transitions in Practice"

In the Ashtanga Vinyasa style practice, we spend almost as much time transitioning between postures as we do staying in each individually. This workshop will explore the many types of transitions we experience in practice; starting with floating in Surya Namaskara, followed by the illusive (and challenging) seated “jump through and jump back”, and finally the more complex entrances into arm balances and inversions. You will learn how and where to use strength and stability while creating lightness and ease in body and mind. Come with a sense of adventure! All levels welcome.
