About Ashtanga Yoga Malmö

Ashtanga Yoga Malmö is a yoga school founded by Isabella Nitschke in 2013 upon her return to Sweden after living many years abroad working in international politics and as well as the yoga and health industry. Since the start in 2013, we have a partnership with Medborgarskolan and run the school at their premises. Initially the school went under the name of Ashtanga Yoga Malmö/Lund as we were teaching in both cities.  When the yoga studio relocated to Värnhemstorget in early 2018, we chose to concentrate all the classes in one place. We stopped teaching in Lund and shortened our name to Ashtanga Yoga Malmö. In September 2022 classes in Lund partially resumed with the creation of a new branch to the school called Ashtanga Yoga Lund.

Everyone, regardless of previous yoga experience, beginners as well as advanced practitioners, is welcome to come to our school. We accept people from all backgrounds, ages and cultures. Our belief is that yoga should be accessible to everyone and we strive to adapt the practice to the needs of each individual.  We aim to offer all students a safe space to develop physically and mentally through yoga. Our mission is to empower practitioners to find their own way through encouraging curiosity, self-ownership and joy on the yoga mat as well as off it. Read more about us on the following pages, for more information about our classes please click here.

Ashtanga Yoga Malmö offers daily yoga tuition, mostly in the format of so-called Mysore-style classes (self-practice with personal guidance). We also teach special foundation courses in ashtanga yoga, yin yoga as well as yoga for stress reduction and relaxation.

In our mysore classes we mainly work with the ashtanga yoga sequences as a framework, but our aim is to be responsive to each individual's needs and personal situation. We help each practitioner find variations and adaptations that suit their particular circumstances. Read more about ashtanga yoga here.

Ashtanga Yoga Malmö believes in flexibility of mind and follows a non-dogmatic approach. We believe that yoga is [one] tool that can help improve your everyday life, your health as well as the relationship to yourself and others. We therefore also work with methods developed by Trauma Sensitive Yoga (Traumaanpassad Yoga Sverige) and th Minded Institute.

Classes are taught by authorised teacher Isabella Nitschke and/or one of our experienced and qualified assisting teachers. Read more about all our teaching team here.
