Date: 2023-09-03 11:30 - 14:00

Venue: Ashtanga Yoga Malmö

Would you like to learn more about the purpose and mechanics of yoga poses? Do you want to deepen your understanding of your own yoga practice? This course is a continuation of the spring semester part 1 course which covered half of the primary series in Ashtanga yoga (sun salutations, the standing sequence, seated postures up to Navasana, back bends and closing section).

Part 2 includes the second half of the ashtanga yoga primary series (from Navasana) as well as the initial back bends in the intermediate series. The course is open to those who participated in part 1, but also practitioners who took the course in 2019/20, or an equivalent course/workshop with us since 2015, and who want to refresh their skills or only took the part 1 course at the time. Other interested parties are encouraged to contact us with their inquiry.

The course aims to deepen the individual practitioner’s understanding of their yoga practice through an in depth study of the function of different yoga postures and their relationship to each other (mainly looking at the Primary series of Ashtanga yoga). We explore the mechanism of each posture; learn how to execute it with suitable alignment for a safe and sustainable practice. We also look at how to adjust/help others (with consent) since helping/adjusting others can lead to a better understanding of the asana even if we don’t have the aim of teaching in the end.

Please note that the course is not a "quick fix" or a shortcut to learning the series of Ashtanga Yoga. The course is NOT for beginners and is only open to those who have regular yoga practice.
